Day 1 Stellenbosch
Departure is at 8am from Cape
Town and after a short orientation we depart
for the beautiful wine region of Stellenbosch. After a relaxed lunch we
will visit some wine farms to sample some of the excellent wine. In Whale
season (between June and November) we will spend the night near Hermanus
in hope that we will see some of these huge mammals. (LD)
Day 2 Oudtshoorn
Leaving the coast behind us we drive inland in order to visit
the world famous Cango Caves. After taking a tour of this amazing natural
wonder we visit an Ostrich farm where those brave members of the groups
can take the opportunity to ride the largest bird in the world! (BLD)

Day 3 Knysna
Returning to the coast via some lovely country roads we arrive
in the picturesque seaside villageof Knysna.
There are numerous adventure activities available here as well as some
interesting local craft. (BLD)
Day 4/5 Tsitsikamma National Park
It is a short drive to Stormsriver, our base for the next two nights. From here
we will explore the coastal region in the Tsitsikamma National Park . The hiking
here is some of the best anywhere and includes the option to walk the first few
kilometers of the Otter Trail.(BLD)
Day 6 Addo Elephant National Park
We spend our time in Addo Elephant National Park surrounded by these magnificent
creatures. Game driving in the Park allows us good opportunity to take some wonderful
photos. (BLD)
Day 7 Cintsa
After a last game drive in Addo we depart the Park and drive north along the
sunshine coast towards Cintsa. A beautiful beach runs along this coast and taking
a walk here is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. (BLD)
Day 8 Coffee Bay
Between Cintsa and Coffee Bay we pay a visit to the Nelson Mandela museum in
Umtata for a slice of history. At Coffee Bay we can visit the well-known ‘Hole
in the Wall’. (BLD)
Day 9/10 Lesotho
After a full day's drive we arrive in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho with its
breathtaking scenery. When border formalities are completed we climb into the
mountains to our rustic overnight spot. The next day we get up early and those
going on the Pony Trek will ride into the remote hills of Lesotho accompanied
by local guides. If you choose to remain behind you can just relax or visit the
local village, school or craft market. (BLD)
Day 11/12 Drakensberg
Crossing the border we depart Lesotho and return to South Africa where we drive
towards the Royal Natal National Park . We spend the next two nights in this
majestic area exploring mountain paths and enjoying the beautiful scenery of
the Drakensberg. Optional horse riding trails are an easier way to reach some
of the more remote viewpoints. (BLD)
Day 13 Kwa Zulu Natal Coast / Durban
Our journey today takes us through some amazing scenery as we return to the coast.
In the late afternoon we arrive in Durban , home to the largest Indian population
outside of India , and in the evening we can go out for a meal at one of the
excellent curry restaurants. (BL)
Day 14 St Lucia World Heritage Park
On our way from Durban along the Kwa Zulu Natal coast we will visit a traditional
Zulu village – to learn more about the Zulu history and culture. There
is also opportunity to purchase some traditional handicrafts. We will spend tonight
inside the St Lucia World Heritage Park and there are a number of optional activities
available to enhance the time spent here. (BLD)
Day 15/16 Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary
Another border crossing takes us out of South Africa and into Swaziland where
we will experience some more of Southern Africa ’s cultural diversity.
We spend the night in the Mlilwane Nature Reserve where we are able to explore
the area on foot. (BLD)
Day 17/18 Kruger National Park
We return to South Africa and drive to the Kruger National Park for two unforgettable
days of game viewing. Kruger National Park is home to Africa ’s Big 5 (Lion,
Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant) as well as a multitude of other beautiful
African animals both small and large. To increase your chances of seeing the
rare nocturnal animals a night drive with the South African National Park Services
is highly recommended. (BLD)
Day 19 Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre
Sadly we have to leave Kruger behind us but our game viewing has not yet ended.
Today we will visit a Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre where we will go on an educational
tour. (BLD)
Day 20 Johannesburg
This is the last day on tour and we finish with a scenic drive through the Panorama
Route visiting Blyde River Canyon , Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s
Window before our eventual arrival in Johannesburg . Although the tour has officially
ended, it is quite common for the group to spend the last night together at one
of the excellent cosmopolitan restaurants. (BL)
